About the Linkind SL5C
The Linkind Smart Solar Spotlight SL5C kit arrives in a package of eight lights (a package of two is also available), each featuring a laminated solar panel atop each housing. The inside of each light holds two large banks of LEDs, with the beam-focusing lens on its face. However, keep in mind these are directional spotlights, meaning they are much different from your typical ambient security flood lights.
Each light measures about 6 x 3.5 inches, is IP65 water-resistant, and provides 3 watts of power – they are marketed as RGBTW – to imply red, green, blue, and tunable white. While the company doesn’t specify the exact wattage of each solar battery or the size of the internal batteries, they do state that when set to low-power mode, they can run for up to 14 hours.
The lights can be ground mounted using included plastic stakes, or you can hang them on a wall or any other hard surface – required hardware included for either option. There’s a simple thumbscrew that allows you to adjust each light to the desired tilt angle.
The Linkind SL5C is essentially an update to LinkInd’s SL5, which rocks a similar design, with the only upgrade in the newer model being better solar-charging efficiency, both in charging speed and when it’s being charged under different weather conditions. Notably, the motion-sensing feature on the SL5 model isn’t available on the SL5C.
Since these lights are entirely dependent on solar power, you should place them directly in the sun for at least a full day before even turning them on. That can be done via a single button on the bottom of each light, and apart from being used to put the devices on and off, the button can be used to cycle lights through a handful of primary colors and two white color temperatures. Any other settings beyond that can only be done via the AiDot mobile app (AiDot is Linkind’s parent company).
Connectivity
The SL5C pairs with the AiDot app using Bluetooth technology. You will need to connect your phone within 98 feet of the device to make sure the pairing process is successful and seamless. Firmware 3 updates will be available via the AiDot app to ensure the SL5C is up to date with the latest features and fix any bugs that might exist in previous releases. Simply put, the lights are easy to install, update, and the setup process is free of any complexities.

Performance

The lights are especially great for illuminating all your outdoor spaces – patio, pool, pathways, or wherever you might need some nice lighting.
One thing that stands out with the SL5C lights is the consistency in lighting quality; there are no dim spots or flickering whatsoever. If you’ve used solar spotlights before, you must be aware that di. Spits and flickering are typical issues, but Linkind has managed to eliminate that with their latest offering.
Beyond the lighting quality, other technologies included here work as expected, making for a memorable lighting experience. Lumination Detection Mode works as required by switching on at night and off at night. Elsewhere, the Smart Scheduling feature offers unmatched convenience and efficiency for those who want to set a certain kind of mood for the outdoor space every night.
Other features include the Music Sync and Light Show, which might be the inspiration behind you buying these lights. With these features, you can sync your music with a light show or set the mood with music, and that makes all the difference for your get-togethers, as they can be boring over time. That said, I still find the dynamic modes to be a little flat, and the music mode is not particularly impressive – but if all you need is a pop of light after dark, the Linkind SL5C gets the job done.
Battery life is great as promised. In testing, we started by running the lights for five hours each night at full brightness, and we would regularly observe a fully charged battery by midday the following day. When the lights ran without a time restriction, we managed to get just over 22 hours of running time at 100 percent brightness, almost 8 hours above the 14 hours Linkind promises. While the battery meter is a little laggy in the app, we didn’t experience any real issues during use.
Perhaps the only downside is the setup for all lights. Each light must be managed individually, meaning up to eight firmware updates, eight automation mode settings, and eight scheduling operations. While on-demand color and dynamic modes can be copied for “all lights” through the Copy Work Mode feature, you can’t do that for all schedules.

The Linkind SL5C Smart Solar Spotlight is available as either an 8-pack or 2-pack, but either proves itself to be one of the best options on the market. For the price, you’re getting excellent lighting features that might as well go for much more. Set up and controls are a breeze via the AiDot, and you can set the mood of your outdoors fairly quickly.
If all you need is a simple, affordable, and robust spot solar lighting system, the Linkind SL5C Smart Solar Spotlight might as well be what you need.
